First I Paint the image on the sheet metal, then I weld in the details. Next I create the welded frame. These are only a few from a collage of individual 4' x 5' "metal works", used atop a retail building on Pier Avenue in Hermosa Beach, CA.
This blog was set up for me, by a friend, to act as an art gallery of sorts. It has taken me a few years to discover its place and now I am happy to utilize its function for sharing. Welcome to a little space within my creative world.
I was born into the ways of art, design, build, and creativity. There are no lines, no definitions which can categorize what I do and my many inspirations. One day I am inspired by the sea and the next by architecture, history, fashion, etc. In this way, my daily life is always rich with adventure. My wife tells me I am a master of re-purposing materials. I say I am merely resourceful.
I have been inspired from master’s in their own right, beginning with my first introduction to welding through my grandfather and his oxygen and acetylene welder. With a welding tool in hand, I can create sculptures and build a house or car. Yet painting and drawing have been gifts at my disposal since I can first remember. I have also been blessed to have attention for that which is naturally in me, surfing, music, style, and art.
I hope that when I surf, paint, design, create music, or build, my talents will have a joyful effect for the viewer.
